From the event organizers behind the Tour of Virginia elite bicycle race, the Alleghany Gran Fondo is a mass-participatory road cycling event that will thrill participants and spectators alike. Come and join the excitement as a rider, spectator, volunteer or sponsor as we bring the spectacle, challenge and camaraderie of a classic European Gran Fondo to Virginia's beautiful Alleghany Highlands region.

Former top-level professional cyclist and current motivational speaker Saul Raisin will be the star rider at the 2010 Alleghany Gran Fondo!

The story of Saul's young life is one of talent, promise, tragedy, triumph and hope.

Saul will be speaking to youth and community groups in the Alleghany Highlands region, and signing copies of his book at number pick-up on Friday evening in Clifton Forge, before lining up for the Gran Fondo on Saturday morning.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the Raisin Hope Foundation, which provides a network of support for brain and spinal cord injury patients and their families.
